Monday Madness
Updated: Mar 7, 2022
just another manic Monday!

.........And just like that it's the last day of February!......2022 sure is turning out to be another tumultuous year! Just two months into a brand new year, 'almost' post pandemic and we are all sat on the edge of our seats waiting to see what Putin the Despot will do!
Will he take us all to the brink and then back off, or will he push the button? Who knows, I think we will know more in the next 24 hours. We all just have to carry on as normal, happily support Ukraine until we are told otherwise, but I can't help but feel anything but helpless. I can't watch the horror unfolding in Ukraine and yet I do!
We are many years on from the end of the Cold War and yet we are no further forward really. We appear to learn nothing and It's at times like these, I hope that life mimics those American end of the world action movies and we survive in some form to fight another day!
Back at the wreck, the renovation beat goes on. We've been out to buy bathrooms at the weekend and came home with just a kitchen tap, we already have a kitchen tap! Not doing well are we? That said it's rather more overwhelming than we expected, having to choose all the bits and bobs for a home. It would be easy to go all trendy or not and whatever we choose, I expect someone will shake their head in disgust eh? We intend to sell so making it 'our place' won't work will it?
We've decided the house we will 'live in' for a while, will suit a mix of French Atelier and an Industrial look. The exciting part comes late this week when the first of the feature windows comes back all refurbished and painted in an Atelier blue grey. Once that first one is in, we can stand back and start to picture the whole house in that style, see if it works? Hope so. I also might actually feel like something is being achieved. We are still on the jobs which will never be seen, such as the metal framing for the plasterboard. This bit really is the tedious bit where the whole house looks wrecked and there's not one room I'd live in. Lets hope that changes and soon. We are being super careful to ensure the house is fully modernised and are clearly not plastering over problems, that means more money and time, but I can live with that for a job well done. We have just 4 months to go, 16 to 18 weeks!. Even then the top floor and cellar level won't be done, however, it will be liveable.
Fizzy dog is still being a beast and Bertie dog has moved in with next doors! They keep sending me photos of him snuggled up on their sofa! He's a crheeky boy! I told them to watch out for their dogs food, he is a sneaky beggar these days! He's a full on spaniel with a labradors stomach lol! A greedy piggy! If he can get hold of an extra bowl of food, he will! silly (although I'd like to report that our marriage is very healthy, thank you)! A moment of clarity, I think you could call it that? We decided we are nicer people in France and certainly more relaxed. This half life thing is going to be too tough, too expensive and too stressful, so I guess the writing is on the wall, we will return full-time by the end of the year. I feel good about this really as I'm way to old and cranky for the back and forth! This of course means he has to travel to meet his clients needs and it is what it is. He is committed to travelling only when necessary, so maybe it will be okay? Egg's in two baskets isn't really that groovy in the end, feels more like we are juggling with too many balls in the air at once and we are going to drop something very soon.

I've warned them to watch out for their dogs food, he goes where he is loved but also where there is grub, he's is a sneaky beggar these days! He's a full on spaniel with a labradors stomach lol! We've spent the weekend walking and how nice it's been to get back to our French routine and also enjoy the benefit of space. Space that we don't get in the UK! I can feel my body unwinding and really, it is time for me to start working off the lockdown/Christmas pounds, no more excuses!
