Settling In… Sort Of

Helloooooo…
Well… we’re settling into the new home quite nicely.
The garden though?
Daunting doesn’t even cover it.
But the area… absolutely breathtaking. Capital B.
This week I’ve mostly been tending to the seedlings I planted back in March — and I’m very pleased to say… they’ve actually sprouted. Whoop for me.
Small wins. We will take those.
Tomatoes, chillies, melons, oragano, sunflowers, strawberries, rocket, and I have another 38 plants coming next week, I had better get a wiggle on and dig the veg, lol. Nowt like leaving things to the last minute!
Now… I would show you…
but apparently I’m not allowed.
Because Facebook (sorry — Meta ) has restricted my account for “unusual behaviour”…
And by unusual behaviour, they mean I deleted a few old pages and groups I created years ago.
I mean… WTAF.
Thanks for that.
Anyway.
In other news…
Stuart had a job interview back in February, and we got the news he’d got it.
Starting in April. Relief doesn’t even begin to cover it.
And then… plot twist.
Because of the current climate, they can’t start him after all. Thanks you orange muppet!
So yeah… that one knocked the wind out of us a bit.
I don’t know what it is, but France does seem to like keeping us on our toes.
Challenge is one word for it.
So now he’s back to square one… and most of the good jobs have already gone.
Brilliant timing. Now I have to get my entrepenuar head on... watch this space.
Anyway — enough of that.
To keep myself from spiralling, I’ve thrown myself into being outside. And I am loving it and so is my health.
Veg patch, garden bits… and I’ve started teaching myself foraging.
Slowly, obviously… because I quite like the idea of not poisoning myself.
But actually — it’s been good.
I weighed myself yesterday and I’m now 10kg down… which is helping my back and my knee (that’s a whole other story). That'll keep the doctor and Kiné happy.
And Alfie’s really into it too, which makes it even better. Seeing his little face take all the knowledge in is just heaven to me. Keep learning my sweetie.

Yesterday we went out to collect sticky weed (Cleavers) to make a cold tonic — and I was genuinely surprised… it tastes like cucumber water.
Did you know that in folklore the reason it was called sticky weed was because, well it’s in the name and it’s also a lymphatic powerhouse.
Didn’t expect that.
So that’s a win.
We also attempted to pick nettles… but took the wrong gloves.
So that went about as well as you’d imagine.
We’ll try again today.
I’m really glad the warmer weather is coming.
Feels like I can finally recharge a bit.
And most importantly work on the tan.
Because honestly… I wouldn’t mind the universe easing up this year.
I’m done with the lessons now.
Anyway… have a lovely day.
Love,
Tina xx
